matrea operates a search directory that connects people with perinatal and early childcare providers. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.
Because matrea operates in the maternal and reproductive health space, we treat the data you share with us with extra care. We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your individual search behavior with advertisers. And we do not pass health-related information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with any part of it, please discontinue use of the platform.
matrea technologies LLC (referred to as "matrea," "we," "our," or "us") is a technology platform that operates a maternal and early childcare search directory at thematrea.com. matrea is a directory service, not a healthcare provider. We do not provide clinical care, medical advice, or any form of treatment and are not responsible for care performed by providers found on this platform.
matrea is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. We are a New Jersey-based limited liability company and operate in the United States, starting in New Jersey and New York.
matrea provides a technology service that connects patients with providers. Provider profiles on the platform contain self-reported and publicly sourced information and should not be relied upon as a formal credentialing verification.
We collect information you give us directly when you use the platform — such as contact details, zip code, search terms, insurance information, and any content you include in a provider profile. If you register as a provider, we collect credentials and account-related information.
When you visit the platform, we automatically collect pseudonymized identifiers and usage data. We use this data to operate the platform and improve its performance. We apply privacy-protective measures to technical identifiers before storage — for example, IP addresses are converted to a non-reversible daily-rotating hash before being written to the database. Raw IP addresses are never stored.
When you submit a review of a provider, we collect your rating and review text. Published reviews are not publicly linked to your full identity without your consent, and all reviews are subject to moderation before publication.
For providers, we may supplement profile information with data from publicly available licensing and credentialing databases to help keep listings accurate.
We use the information we collect to operate and improve the platform, connect patients with providers, send transactional communications, verify and display provider listings, facilitate reviews, and foster trust and safety. We also use aggregated and de-identified data to understand how the platform is used and to improve search and matching functionality.
We do not send marketing emails to patients without explicit opt-in. You may unsubscribe from non-transactional communications at any time.
matrea does not sell your personal information, use your health-related search behavior for advertising, or build behavioral profiles from your platform activity; however, in the future, matrea may sell aggregate, deidentified data.
When you submit a consult request, we record the consent language presented to you at the time of submission alongside a unique inquiry reference number. This record is retained as an audit trail of your consent.
When you submit a consult request, we share your contact information and request details with the specific provider you selected. We do not share this information with other providers or unrelated third parties.
We may share information with third-party vendors and service providers that help us operate the platform, such as hosting, infrastructure, communications, analytics, and customer support providers. These providers are permitted to access information only as reasonably necessary to provide services to us.
We may disclose information when required by law or when necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of matrea, our users, or the public.
In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred.
We may share your information for other purposes where you have given us explicit consent.
Because matrea operates in the maternal and reproductive health space, certain search activity, provider inquiries, or platform interactions may be considered health-related information under applicable privacy laws. matrea does not sell health-related information, use it for advertising targeting, or share it with data brokers. We are committed to minimizing the collection and retention of sensitive information wherever possible.
If you have questions about how your health-related data is handled, contact us at the address in Section 14.
matrea sets a cookie named _vid on your first visit to the platform. This is a randomly generated identifier with no connection to your name, email address, or any other personal information. It is stored for up to one year and is used solely for internal purposes. It is not shared with third parties or used for advertising.
matrea uses browser storage to improve your experience:
Authenticated providers and admins are issued session cookies upon login. These are short-lived, HttpOnly, and used only to maintain your authenticated session on the platform.
When analytics are active, we use cookies to understand aggregate usage patterns. We configure our analytics tools to limit data collection and restrict use of platform data for third-party advertising purposes.
matrea does not use advertising pixels or behavioral retargeting tools on the patient-facing platform.
You can configure your browser to block or delete cookies at any time. Blocking the _vid cookie will not prevent you from using the platform.
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the platform, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When data is no longer needed for these purposes, we delete or de-identify it.
When you submit a consult request, we temporarily retain the contact information you provide, including your name, email address, and phone number, to facilitate delivery of your inquiry and support operational needs. This contact information is deleted or de-identified within approximately 30 days after submission. After that time, we may retain limited non-contact records, such as the inquiry reference number, submission timestamp, selected practice, and consent records, for legal, security, auditing, and operational purposes. These retained records are no longer linked to your contact information.
If you submit a deletion request for your provider account, we will delete or de-identify personal information associated with your account within approximately 90 days, unless retention is required for legal, security, fraud prevention, contractual, or legitimate business purposes. Deactivating your profile, which removes it from public search results, is separate from a deletion request and does not trigger data removal. To submit a deletion request, email the address in Section 14 with the subject line "Privacy Deletion Request".
matrea implements technical and organizational security measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the data we handle. These include encryption of data in transit and at rest, pseudonymization of technical identifiers, access controls, and regular review of our data practices.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If you believe your information has been compromised, please contact us immediately.
matrea is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use the platform or submit any information to us.
If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe we may have collected such information, please contact us at the address in Section 14.
If you are a parent or guardian who submitted information through the platform on behalf of your child, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of that information by contacting us.
Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information. Regardless of applicable law, matrea generally honors requests to:

matrea does not control and is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of any third-party website. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any website you visit. The inclusion of a link on the matrea platform does not imply matrea's endorsement of the linked site.
matrea is a technology platform and provider directory that facilitates connections between users and independent healthcare providers. matrea is not a healthcare provider and does not provide medical care, diagnosis, or treatment. The platform is intended for provider discovery and inquiry purposes. matrea is committed to minimizing the collection and retention of sensitive information and encourages users not to submit detailed medical or health information through the platform.
matrea may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our data practices, platform features, or applicable law.
